Catherine Spader Sets Sight On Success As Paulsen's New Digital Media Ops Specialist
Paulsen recently welcomed Catherine Spader to its media team to serve as Digital Media Ops Specialist.
"Right now, we are focused on building upon our expertise in digital marketing to align our resources with the needs of our clients," says President and CEO Marcus Squier. "Adding someone with Catherine's knowledge, skillset and passion for helping others further equips our media team to accomplish this objective."
Catherine, who will work part-time this spring as she completes her undergraduate studies in marketing at the University of South Dakota Beacon School of Business, is eager to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to her work at Paulsen.
"Getting to put a lot of what I've learned over the past few years to use is exciting," she says. "Digital marketing is expanding so much right now, but I think there's still a lot of room to grow within agriculture."
Her first impression of Paulsen was that of a supportive, caring environment. "Everyone is ready to help you," she says. "They all want you to succeed."
Raised on the northern edge of Sioux Falls, Catherine attended school in the city but always had a foot rooted in a distinctly rural lifestyle. "I was always around agriculture," she says, noting that the backyard of her family's home opened up to farmland.
To that end, she grew up riding horses and going on hunting trips with her family — the latter a pursuit she continues to embrace today. "We try to make a big trip out west each year," she says. "We also do a lot of hunting around here — I'm lucky that I have access to land that is nearby."
When asked what motivates her to go hunting, Catherine says she appreciates the camaraderie — not to mention the patience and perseverance required to excel. "All of those failed attempts make the one successful attempt so much more rewarding," she says.
