Karmen Groos Takes On New Role As Media Accounts Payable Coordinator At Paulsen
When Paulsen envisioned a new accounts payable role for its media team, it was clear that a successful candidate would need to possess a unique combination of skills. Karmen Groos, who became Paulsen's Media Accounts Payable Coordinator last month, has delivered exactly that to her new team.
"I was looking for a new way to use the skills that I've gained over 25 years in various roles in banking and finance," says Karmen, who most recently served as Chief Financial Officer for First Century Financial Credit Union. She feels confident that the adaptability she has exhibited throughout her career will serve her well as she adjusts to agency life. "This is where I want to be."
"Digital marketing is an area in which we've achieved significant growth over the past several years," says Paulsen Chief Technology Officer Sara Steever. "Karmen's background in finance and her sincere commitment to customer service will prove to be tremendous assets for our media team."
The brand new role at Paulsen is designed to facilitate efficient invoicing and payments for media placements, working closely with external vendors and Paulsen's finance and media teams to keep digital advertising running optimally.
Karmen initially felt drawn to Paulsen's stated commitment to work-life balance and caring for its employees, and she has already seen that play out in the ways employees interact with each other throughout the day. "That is priceless to me," she says. "That wasn't a gimmick—it wasn't just something to bring me in the door. It shows that the values that are talked about are lived out."
When not at work, Karmen keeps busy playing the enviable role of grandmother, supporting her daughter's family with childcare and making memories along the way. "I didn't know I could love being a grandma more than I loved being a mom," she says.
Karmen also volunteers with the El Riad Shrine Circus, where her husband serves as a clown at circus performances throughout South Dakota each spring and summer.
